Nestled in the middle of the village of Holt, between Bradford-on-Avon and Melksham, the Courts Garden is full of charm and variety: an English country garden at its best.
Cared for by the National Trust, the seven-acre garden is laid out in a series of intimate garden ‘rooms’. Each corner provides an oasis from the world outside, from the arboretum to the water garden with its trickling rill and bridge straight out of an impressionist painting.
In summer the garden is a hotbed of colour, and recent re-planting in the Pillar Lawn takes this almost literally with echinacea ‘Hot Summer’, helenium ‘Ranchera’ and salvia ‘Amistad’ providing a feast for all senses. The Courts is open every day from 10.30am to 5pm, until the autumn.
