One of the most dramatic gardening experiences in Cornwall during September, Gardening on the Edge takes place around the Cornwall Minack Theatre, where gardening and the dramatic Cornish landscape come together in a unique setting. Perched high above the Atlantic Ocean, the Minack’s gardens are shaped by the cliffs, sea air and often unpredictable Cornish weather, creating a spectacular environment for plants to thrive.
Gardening on the Edge celebrates the skill, imagination and determination involved in maintaining gardens at the Minack. Gardening on a cliff overlooking the sea presents many challenges, including strong winds, salt spray, steep slopes and limited soil. Yet these difficult conditions have been transformed into a series of beautiful planting areas that complement the theatre and its surroundings.
