Top plantswoman Derry Watkins opens the exciting garden next to her Special Plants nursery at Cold Ashton near Chippenham for the National Garden Scheme on Thursday 17th October from 10.30am until 5pm.

The architect-designed three quarter acre hillside garden with stunning views has exotic plants, gravel gardens for borderline hardy plants, a ‘black and white’ (purple and silver) garden, a hot border, a lemon and lime bank, vegetable garden and orchard. Annual, biennial and tender plants are grown for late summer colour, there are spring fed ponds, a bog garden and a woodland walk. Visitors can use the free list of plants in the garden.

Shapes are carved into a field and an ancient horse chestnut overlooks 13 compost heaps. New plants are constantly being tried, most available next door at Special Plants nursery. Admission £5, children free. Homemade teas available, picnics welcome and dogs allowed on short leads.
