There are three open days at the sensational arboretum at Colesbourne Park. The arboretum at Colesbourne Park has a magnificent collection of over 200 trees from around the world, collected by HJ Elwes and added to over the past 50 years by Sir Henry Elwes. Many of the trees in the collection are recognised as the largest of their size in the UK (Champion Trees) and one oriental plane has been registered as one of the 70 UK trees to celebrate the late Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.
Each autumn, for one weekend only, visitors can explore the arboretum set within the beautiful parkland. For 2024 the arboretum will be open on Friday 18th, Saturday 19th and Sunday 20th October from 12 pm with Sir Henry and head gardener Katie Reynolds leading hourly guided tours throughout the afternoon.
Entry including the tour is £12 per person, children are free. There are limited places on the tours so for more information and to book your place please contact. Dogs on leads are welcome.
Colesbourne Park, as featured on BBC Countryfile earlier this year is halfway between Cheltenham and Gloucester on the A435.
