Fairfield has some historic walled gardens, planted with interesting trees and herbaceous borders. There is also an intriguing maze and views of the Quantocks and sea. The woodland garden has bulbs, shrubs and fine trees.

From the A39 Bridgwater to Minehead, turn north. The garden is 1.5 miles west of Stogursey, on Stringston Road. There is parking for cars (no coaches)

Barton Manor Open 29 Aug 2016

Open Garden in aid of the British Red Cross 2016

This is a large award-winning garden, in the grounds of historic Barton Manor (former home of Queen Victoria). It is around ten acres in size, and its features include a large lake with huge fish, formal and informal beds, and some subtropical planting. There is also a hedge maze, Japanese garden, and the UK collection of red hot pokers.

Open Gardens in aid of the British Red Cross 2016

The gardens of two beautiful flint and brick cottages have been crafted into the hillside of one of Hampshire's prettiest villages. Enchanting borders with scent and colour, blending herbaceous perennials and elegant grasses that move in harmony in a gentle breeze. Recent developments include a tiered rose garden and vegetable area. There are rare and unusual vegetables using authentic seed varieties from Franchi Seeds in Italy.

Open Garden in aid of the British Red Cross 2016

A tranquil and organic haven with lots of summer planting. The remains of the Salisbury Andover Canal run through the two acres of garden. There are mature shrubs and trees and a centre bed, where climbers are being encouraged over a large frame.

This is a part-walled modern garden with a koi fish pond. There are lots of different varieties of shrubs and bushes. Enjoy your afternoon cream tea by the small summer house.

Packridge Farm Open 3 July 2016

Open Garden in aid of the British Red Cross 2016

A 17th century farmhouse surrounded by one and half acres of well maintained herbaceous borders, trees, kitchen garden and orchard of very old and rare apples and pears. From the fern garden there is a woodland walk.

Open Garden in aid of the British Red Cross 2016

A small garden in which every plant has to earn its place. The mature shrubs give structure with perennials and half-hardy plants the show-offs. Tender plants are displayed in pots throughout the garden. Look out for hardy orchids, aroids and other oddities. This is a garden full of interesting plants rather than a designed garden.

Turstin Drive Open 19 June 2016

Open Garden in aid of the British Red Cross 2016

A lovely mixture of fruits, vegetables, borders and cut flowers giving the garden a cottage garden atmosphere. An RHS seed club member who actively adds to their database of knowledge. Salads will be in their prime together with fruits including the cherries and strawberries.
